Think Before
You Rub
Dry Skin? You are not the problem
If you’re moisturizing multiple times a day, you probably believe you have “abnormally” dry skin…
But your skin is a highly permeable and complex system. Way too complex and variable to approach clinical trials without a fair bit of skepticism. If the 30+ ingredient cocktail of isolated chemicals you’re using just isn’t working, it’s not you. It’s seriously time to give mother nature a shot.
Our natural moisturizing balms mimic the skin’s sebum to lock-in moisture while delivering nourishing vitamins in their most complete, bioavailable forms.
Chemical Cocktail
Isolated chemicals in forced relationships with each other to treat very specific issues.

Hyaluronic Acid
Holds water well but without a perfect occlusive seal the moisture will evaporate quickly and dry the skin. It’s efficacy also depends on the molecular weight used in the formula.
Glycerin
Draws in moisture effectively, but in low humidity conditions it pulls water from deeper skin layers causing dryness if again not perfectly sealed.
Dimethicone
The silicone-based, far from perfect, most commonly used sealant. Creates a barrier foreign to the skin’s natural protective layer which can disrupt the skin’s microbiome. It does not hydrate on its own and it offers minimal protection from irritants and pollutants. It also builds up quickly, requiring scrubbing off beneficial skin bacteria to remove it.
Deep, rich skin food
Whole biological systems working together as nature intended. Treats issues holistically.

100% grass-fed & finished beef tallow
Rich in fatty acids, tallow closely resembles the lipids in your skin’s natural barrier. As opposed to dimethicone’s foreign layer laid on top of the skin, tallow’s biocompatibility allows it to integrate seamlessly in the barrier layer and actually strengthens the barrier itself while locking in moisture. Tallow also delivers fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) which promote healing and reduce inflammation.
Raw Honey
Honey is your natural humectant: the ingredient that draws in moisture. Honey also combats bad bacteria and fungal issues with its natural antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant compounds like hydrogen peroxide and polyphenols. Honey’s pH aligns with the skin’s natural pH to support a healthy microbiome.
Organic unrefined jojoba oil
Jojoba oil balances oil production, hydrating skin while regulating excess oil. Since it also mimics the natural human sebum it works together with tallow, filling in gaps in the lipid barrier to protect from environmental stressors and seal in moisture. Vitamin E delivered from jojoba oil reduces inflammation.
Choosing a path

Parabens, phthalates, mineral oils, alcohols, formaldehyde-releasing preservatives—these were all ingredients commonly found in moisturizers not too long ago because they were initially considered safe. Only later, after millions of people had used them, were they discovered to be hormone-disrupting and dangerous.
That’s just the nature of the beast when we start isolating chemicals. It makes you wonder: which ingredient will science and regulation catch up with next?

Get to the root cause
Unfortunately we're not taught to think like this - but dry skin is just a symptom.
When we take care of ourselves holistically by limiting toxins, eating clean, feeding our skin with wholesome biocompatible skin food, sleeping well, getting sunlight, exercising and sweating, etc. - we can start to fix dry skin more permanently by attacking the root cause: metabolic dysfunction.
Common misconceptions about tallow

Clogs pores
The type of fat matters. Suet is the hard fat around the kidneys of cattle. Suet’s fatty acid profile, rich in oleic acid and stearic acid, mimics the skin’s natural sebum. Properly rendering out any impurities allow this suet tallow to absorb perfectly into the skin without clogging pores.
Scrap fat can come from anywhere else in the animal and is likely to contain more impurities. Companies using this cheaper fat are also likely taking shortcuts in rendering, leading to products that may clog pores.

Smells beefy
The quality of the fat matters. Cattle are designed to eat grass. Fresh 100% grass-fed & finished suet is naturally rich in omega-3s and has a clean flavor and smell. Primarily grain-fed suet is unnaturally high in omega-6s. This alteration in the fatty acid profile contributes to a more pungent gamey odor.
We do things the Ancient way: 100% grass-fed & finished suet rendered low & slow for the best possible tallow experience.
